MITCHELL — While livestock shows and static exhibits remain at the heart of Davison County 4-H Achievement Days, organizers are expanding the event's reach with activities designed to welcome the entire community.
This year's Achievement Days featured several public events, including the debut of Touch a Truck and Painting the Plows on Monday, Aug. 3, alongside the return of the popular Ag Olympics.
The new Touch a Truck event was created to attract families who may not otherwise attend Achievement Days.
Snowplows from the Davison County Highway Department sit lined up at the Davison County Fairgrounds Monday, Aug. 3, 2026, ready for community members to decorate as part of the inaugural Painting the Plows event during Davison County 4-H Achievement Days.
Those experiences are part of the larger goal of helping more people understand agriculture and see that Achievement Days is about more than competitions and exhibits.
