Sydney Metro has officially unveiled the first train for the Western Sydney Airport line at the Orchard Hills Stabling and Maintenance Facility (SMF). The brand-new three-car train is capable of moving 645 passengers at a time, and is the first of 12 trains set to connect Western Sydney communities with the new airport and Bradfield City Centre via the 23-kilometre railway line. © Sydney MetroThe train, which was transported to the purpose-build Orchard Hills SMF for assembly, initially arrived into Port Kembla by ship. Construction of the line itself is continuing, with the completed route set to feature six stations along its 23-kilometre span. Once fully operational, the line will allow passengers to travel between St Marys Metro Station and Airport Terminal Station in around 15 minutes, providing an expedited connection to Western Sydney International Airport.
