I’ll just say it: What the hell is going on with AI “reasoning”? Can AI reasoning somehow be both BS and not at the same time? When I asked her what we actually know about AI reasoning, her answer was brief enough to fit on an index card. Here’s the thing: Nobody denies that AI reasoning models can, indeed, produce significant and accurate results. I don’t foresee always reaching for the air quotes around AI reasoning, any more than I’d put them around the “horse” in horsepower.
