Four teams will dip into their rookie day allocation with Triple Eight (Objective Racing), Matt Stone Racing, PremiAir Racing and Dick Johnson Racing all set to field their first-year drivers. Under the strict Supercars testing rules, an additional driver is allowed to complete a maximum of 10 laps during a rookie test. Completing the test is the Supercheap Auto-backed wildcard entry that Team 18 will run for Ipswich and the two enduros. The test will utilise the West layout of the circuit which will be used for the 500-kilometre race in September. Erebus will run a rookie day at The Bend for Jobe Stewart, however that will be at the end of this month.
