PAXTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A Waverly man was killed Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle collision along State Route 41 in southwestern Ross County. Troopers from the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the crash near milepost 2 in Paxton Township after receiving a report at approximately 4:13 p.m. According to initial findings from investigators, 62-year-old Vernon Holbert of Waverly was traveling northwest on State Route 41 in a 1984 Chevrolet Monte Carlo when he failed to negotiate a curve. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Bainbridge Fire and Paxton Township EMS. State Route 41 South was closed for approximately three hours while emergency crews cleared the scene and conducted their preliminary investigation.
