North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission bat researchers sighted 24 bats roosting in a dead hemlock tree in the Joyce Kilmer-Slickrock Wilderness in Graham County.
Many Indiana bats have fallen prey to a deadly fungal disease, called white nose syndrome.
It’s through mist netting that the agency’s researchers were finally able to capture the Indiana bats.
