Total construction spending declined 0.1% in June compared with May, according to data released by the U.S. Census Bureau August 3. On a yearly basis, spending declined 3.2%. The data pattern follows the general trend of the past year. “Through April 2025, private nonresidential construction spending ascended to $806.1 billion on a seasonally adjusted annual rate basis, an all-time high,” Anirban Basu, chief economist at Associated Builders and Contractors, said in a statement. “Since then, that figure has expanded only three times over the past 14 months.”
