The North Carolina Public Radio Association has a little bit of a cash injection that will help it support initiatives designed to keep its 13 Member stations’ lights on.
A $85,000 grant from the North Carolina Local News Lab Fund has been accepted by the NCPRA, which will support the hiring of an underwriting salesperson.
Current also says the funds will help build a shared statewide alerting system while fostering shared editorial opportunities among Member stations.
The dollars will also delve into the delicate Diversity, Equity and Inclusion arena by designating what Current calls “pathways” into public media careers for students at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs).
This initial grant becomes a seed that we are hoping to harvest into much more investment in pursuit of our ultimate goal of serving residents of North Carolina.”
