President Luis Abinader has convened the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM) for Monday, 3 August 2026, at 5pm at the Presidential Palace.
The meeting kickstarts the performance evaluation process for the President of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ), Luis Henry Molina, and 10 other magistrates of the high court.
The proceedings will determine whether the judges remain in their current posts or are replaced.The way the votes are set, the President has the last word in choosing the judges.Under Article 181 of the Dominican Constitution, Supreme Court justices are subject to a performance review after serving a seven-year term.
If the CNM decides to remove any magistrate from office, it is required to formally justify its decision.
