In horror short film The Love Monsters, writer/director Juliana Rodriguez explores the twisted impulses that lead to danger for online models. Without warning, the man attacks Maria with pepper spray, and drags her to the attic of her own home. The monsters are not always where and who we think they will be. Rodriguez describes her inspiration for The Love Monsters: ” … a very personal work for me; it’s about the desire for connection, the pursuit of dreams, and the euphoria and anxiety that can arise in those places where the adrenaline of speed and danger consumes everything. I was deeply moved by the story of the Ukrainian OnlyFans model, Maria Kovalchuk, when I wrote The Love Monsters.
