Srinagar: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will preside over and take the salute at the main Independence Day function to be held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar. According to a communiqué issued to divisional commissioners by the General Administration Department, the Chief Minister will lead the proceedings in the summer capital. As per details, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary will take the salute at the main Independence Day function in Jammu, while Sakina Masood Itoo will preside over the event in Anantnag. Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani, who holds cabinet status, will take the salute at the main Independence Day function in Kupwara, his home district. This will be the first time since his appointment that the Advisor to the Chief Minister will preside over an Independence Day function.
