Price hikes aren't the only downside to the global memory crunch; it's also impacting the supply of Apple computers. First, we saw a shortage of Apple’s Mac mini and Mac Studio, and now we may see a limited supply for the MacBook Air, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports. The MacBook Air was upgraded with an M5 chip earlier this year and saw a hefty $200 price hike in June. Until the MacBook Neo launched in March, the Air was also the easiest laptop to recommend for someone who wanted to try out macOS. At both retail and online stores, Apple has also been nudging customers toward the base MacBook Pro instead of the Air, which it will reportedly refresh early next year.
