More than a decade after Winamp was shut down, music streaming service Deezer has signed a deal to power Winamp's new premium music subscription service. The new Winamp Player is set to debut in the first half of 2027. "Deezer will provide its white-label music streaming technology and global music catalog, enabling Winamp to launch its own premium subscription offering under the Winamp brand," the companies said in a statement. But here we are, discussing a Winamp comeback, though it'll be an uphill battle given the competition. "The new Winamp Player will not be limited to music streaming," but will provide access to users' local music libraries, internet radio stations, podcasts, personal cloud-based collections, and other audio sources.
