Red Cross says blood shortage has turned critical; donations needed

The Indiana Chapter of the American Red Cross says that the shortage in blood supplies caused by falling donations this summer has now reached emergency levels. According to the group, the national Red Cross has declared a national blood crisis, for only the second time in its history. The Red Cross has less than a one day supply of type O positive blood and is limiting distribution to hospitals. To encourage blood donations, anyone who donates in August will receive a $20 Amazon Gift Card by email.
