Mitigating Man-Animal Conflict: A Shared Responsibility
['Sajad Shafi Bhat']
Rising Kashmir
Mitigating man-animal conflict, therefore, is no longer an environmental slogan; it is a necessity for public safety, ecological balance and social peace.
In other words, coexistence cannot be expected when we continue to redesign the environment in ways that make conflict inevitable.
At the same time, wildlife protection agencies must strengthen their outreach and response systems.
Conflict mitigation should be integrated into development planning, disaster management and rural livelihoods policy.
The larger lesson is clear: man-animal conflict is not just about animals entering human spaces; it is about humans entering and reshaping animal spaces without sufficient caution.
