Modernity Must Not Come at the Cost of Memory
['Rk News']
Rising Kashmir
Kashmir stands at a crossroads where the promise of development meets the responsibility of memory.
Unfortunately, too often development is pursued in a narrow sense: concrete over character, speed over sensitivity, and expansion over memory.
Old buildings are demolished before they are documented.
Local crafts need stronger support through training, marketing, and education so that traditional knowledge remains a viable livelihood, not just a memory.
If we lose our heritage, we may gain roads and buildings, but we will have paid too high a price.
