The annexure accompanying the reply lists grants sanctioned to museums in several states and Union Territories between 2021-22 and 2025-26. In contrast, the Deskid Cultural and Welfare Society, Deskid Gonpa, Leh was sanctioned Rs 435.04 lakh (Rs 4.35 crore) for setting up a new museum under the Museum Grant Scheme. Of the sanctioned amount, Rs 108.76 lakh was released during 2022-23 and Rs 87.01 lakh during 2025-26, while the utilisation reported stands at Rs 413.29 lakh. According to the Ministry, financial assistance under the Museum Grant Scheme is provided for establishing new museums, developing existing museums, digitising museum collections, setting up virtual museums and training museum professionals. The Ministry said grants are sanctioned based on the category of proposals received under the scheme.
