The "dog days of summer" mean something completely different at Wisconsin Humane Society campuses across the state, including those in Green Bay and Door County. According to Wisconsin Humane Society Media Specialist Corey Viars, more than 1,300 animals are available for adoption through its facilities thanks to increased intake during the summer months. With more animals to care for, Viars says that also increases expenses for medical care, food and other necessities. The Wisconsin Humane Society's Door County Campus will host its annual Pet Walk on Saturday, Aug. 8, with events beginning at 9 a.m. at the Door County YMCA's Peterson Park.
