Experiencing Day of the Dead in San Gabriel EtlaIn the fall of 2019, my wife and I spent two months living in Oaxaca City, where we rented a studio apartment a few blocks from the Zocalo (central square). We’d signed up for the Day of the Dead in San Gabriel Etla experience with the tour operator Coyote Aventuras in hopes of learning more about the holiday and experiencing it firsthand. The party went on for about 20 minutes, mezcal flowing, no breaks. But instead of launching into all-out chaos again, we were first treated to a short theatrical performance enacting a Day of the Dead crossover.
