(ABC 6 News) — The League of Minnesota Cities has recognized 23 state lawmakers as 2026 Legislators of Distinction, including Sen. Carla Nelson (R-Rochester) and Rep. Greg Davids (R-Preston). The League of Minnesota Cities said the annual award honors legislators whose leadership, collaboration, and support for cities helped advance the interests of Minnesota communities during the legislative session. To be eligible for the award, legislators must demonstrate one or more of the following:Be generally accessible to League representativesSeek input on issues important to citiesListen to League concerns and thoughtfully consider information provided by the LeagueSponsor and/or support League initiativesAdvocate for the interests of Minnesota citiesDemonstrate the value of strong partnerships between the state and citiesSen. Nelson announced in May that she would be retiring and not running for re-election.
