The Boston Red Sox are looking to make a major splash within the American League East. The Red Sox agreed to terms on a trade for Baltimore Orioles catcher Adley Rutschman on Monday, according to Jared Carrabis. MLB Network's Joel Sherman noted that the medical review would be the most important detail to get things done, which is why nothing was able to become official as of this story's publication. The Red Sox haven't had someone hit double-digit home runs from behind the dish in back-to-back years since Jarrod Saltalamacchia in 2012 and 2013, which Rutschman did from 2022-2024. Rutschman has been much better behind the dish, as well -- improving his caught stealing above average number (-2 to +5), caught stealing rate (24% to 37%), and total number of runners caught stealing (12 to 16) from 2025 to 2026.
