Job postings down 11% since start of year

The number of job postings in the UK has fallen 11% since the beginning of 2026, according to Indeed, which found recruitment activity remains 32% lower than in February 2020.
In Europe, job postings are 5% higher than this pre-pandemic baseline, while in the US, the figure stood 2% higher.
Graduate job postings fell around 7% year on year, their lowest level for this time of year since 2020, while summer job postings, covering temporary roles in sectors such as hospitality, retail, tourism and events, were also at their weakest level since 2022.
Wage growth in job postings eased to 3.9% annually in the three months to June, its lowest rate since February 2022.
Mentions of artificial intelligence in job postings continue to climb in 2026.
