The Post-Transplant Initiative for Optimising Nurse-led Engagement & Empowering Recovery (PIONEER) clinic was launched today at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. “This innovative nurse-led clinic provides a more personalised approach to post-transplant care” Malcolm Greenwood-MorganTraditionally, post-transplant reviews at the trust’s Manchester Royal Infirmary were conducted by surgeons during routine follow-up appointments, reflecting established models of care. Insights from the initiative will be used to inform future approaches to personalised post-transplant care, said the trust and Chiesi. Malcolm Greenwood-Morgan, clinical nurse specialist at the trust, said: “Every transplant recipient’s journey is unique, and this innovative nurse-led clinic provides a more personalised approach to post-transplant care. “Personalised, culturally sensitive post-transplant care is essential to helping each patient achieve the best possible outcome from their transplant,” he said.
