More than two months after his arrest in Texas, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer charged with shooting a man in Minneapolis has yet to be extradited to Minnesota.
Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty, whose office brought felony assault charges against ICE agent Christian Castro, sent a letter to Texas Gov.
However, federal charges against Sosa-Celis and another man were later dropped after evidence contradicted sworn testimony by Castro and his colleague.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension tracked Castro to Harlingen, Texas, and Homeland Security Inspector General Office agents and Texas Rangers assisted with his arrest on May 29.
In her letter, Moriarty thanked Texas law enforcement’s role in apprehending Castro and said “all procedural requirements have been met” to effectuate his extradition.
