San Francisco signed Arraez to a one-year, $12 million free-agent contract last offseason. Despite initial concerns regarding the veteran second baseman's defense, Arraez quickly proved to be a more than serviceable defender at the position after working with Giants infield coach Ron Washington. In 105 games with San Francisco before the trade, Arraez batted .324/.360/.440 with four home runs, 43 RBI and 10 stolen bases, earning him his fourth career All-Star nod.
