Jon Paul Taylor was comfortably elected to represent the island’s Bro’r Llynnoedd seat on the council that was previously held by his Taid (grandfather), councillor Ken Taylor, who died suddenly in May. The 30-year-old married dad of two, secured 555 votes, seeing off a challenge by Reform in the Anglesey County Council by-election, held on Thursday, July 30. He told the Local Democracy Reporting Service that standing in the by-election had been both “exciting and nerve-wracking”. “I’m sure my Taid, Ken Taylor, would have been delighted to see me stepping into his shoes. The election had been sparked after the sudden death of Cllr Ken Taylor back in May.
