Menai Suspension Bridge to close again to celebrate landmark's 200th birthday

The Grade I listed bridge was designed by Thomas Telford and completed in 1826, and was one of the world's first major suspension bridges.
On August 8, the bridge will be closed from 6am to 2pm for the set up of the celebratory event and the event itself, which will begin at 10am.

A spokesperson for Traffic Wales said: "In order to support the celebrations of Pont Menai's 200th birthday, the A5 will be closed on Saturday, August 8th at normal times.
"Menai Bridge will be closed on Saturday, 8 August in support of the 200th birthday celebration of the bridge at the times listed below:06:00 – 10:00 - Traffic Lights and lane closures to allow event set up10:00 – 14:00 - Full closure for event activities14:00 onwards - Commence full reopening.
