Man admits series of thefts in work vans in Galashiels

Darren Crawford, of Summerfield, Earlston, pleaded guilty to stealing a rucksack from a vehicle parked outside a property in Netherbank between April 13 and April 20, which contained items including a firearms certificate, shotgun licence, thermal imaging binoculars and a thermal imaging scope.
He also admitted thefts of tools from insecure vehicles in Abbotsford Road and Netherbank in April.
Crawford pleaded guilty to two additional charges of being found in circumstances which inferred he intended to commit theft on Tweedbank View and Weavers Linn, Tweedbank, on July 13.
He admitted a sixth charge of shouting and swearing and uttering threats of violence on Talisman Avenue, Galashiels, where he was arrested by police last Friday, July 24.
Sheriff Peter Paterson deferred sentence until August 24 for the production of background reports and Crawford was granted bail.
