Plans have been submitted to Scottish Borders Council for both internal and external improvements at Mairches Medical Practice on O’Connell Street in Hawick. The primary objectives are to enhance accessibility for all users, modernise the premises to meet current healthcare standards, and improve the overall appearance of the building while maintaining its established character. The proposed internal alterations are intended to improve accessibility, patient experience, and compliance with current healthcare and infection control standards. Seven consulting room door openings will be widened to provide wheelchair access and improve circulation throughout the building. “The proposed development represents a sympathetic programme of refurbishment and modernisation that will significantly improve accessibility, patient facilities, clinical accommodation, and the overall appearance of the building.
