Lauder Cornet: 'A dream come true' to lead town's festivities

The week, which ran from Sunday, July 26 to Saturday (August 1) got off to a start with the Kirkin’ o’ the Cornet and came to a close with Common Riding Day.
“It was like a dream come true," Mr Wilkinson said.
Mr Wilkinson was the one hundredth cornet to take up the role in 2026, due to breaks during the two World Wars and the Covid pandemic.
There were several events held throughout the week, including the apprentice ride, fancy dress parade, children’s disco and duck race.
