Addressing Parliament last week, Mr. Bagbin announced that the event will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The Speaker said the day will feature two curtain-raisers and the main match. One will be between Members of Parliament and Members of the Executive. He also disclosed that Parliament is in advanced talks with Sunderland Football Club in the UK to create pathways for young Ghanaian talents. The Speaker clarified that the Democracy Cup is not funded by Parliament.
