Emergency services were called to the fire on Jessamine Road, near Southampton General Hospital, at about 1pm this afternoon. The fire spread from two sheds to nearby fence panels and towards the house, damaging its conservatory and fascias. "Upon arrival, firefighters found two sheds alight, which had subsequently spread onto nearby fence panels, and was heading towards the house." With hot weather continuing, the fire service urged residents to think twice before lighting bonfires and follow safety advice if they do. They added: "The current hot weather can see small fires spread and grow quicker than you might expect."
