Hampshire County Council leader Councillor Nick Adams-King said motorists should plan ahead, with the A3057 Romsey Road at Nursling already closed and Bassett Avenue set to shut southbound from Monday. The A3057 is closed between Upton Lane and the M271 roundabout following a burst water main outside Romsey Golf Club. From Monday, August 3, Bassett Avenue will be closed southbound 24 hours a day between Chilworth Roundabout and Memorial Roundabout until Sunday, August 16, while the carriageway is rebuilt and resurfaced following earlier water main repairs. Councillor Adams-King said: "At least this is happening during the school holidays, when traffic is generally lighter."
