Gwent Police confirmed that the rider of the motorbike was taken to hospital as a precaution. A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "We received a report of a road traffic collision on the A4042 at around 4.40pm on Friday 31 July. "The collision involved a car and a motorbike. Witnesses reported that vehicles were being diverted along the dual carriageway towards Ponthir. A witness said at the time: "It doesn’t look too good, diverting traffic up the dual carriageway and back down to get to Ponthir."
