Christopher Phillips, 60, of Porthcawl, pleaded guilty at Cardiff Crown Court in March to preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body and fraud by false representation. He was sentenced to two years and four months in prison at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court on Monday, August 3. Upon arrival, officers spoke to Phillips, who claimed his mother was in London with cousins. A search of the property led to the discovery of a freezer with flowers placed on top of it. Further investigation revealed the body of a woman in her 80s, now confirmed to be Sylvia Phillips.
