The properties, located in The Gaer, were the subject of closure orders secured in response to residents' concerns. A spokesperson for Gwent Police said: "Two Newport flats have been boarded up following reports of anti-social behaviour and alleged drug dealing. "We've responded to residents’ concerns by working with Hedyn to secure Closure Orders on two properties in The Gaer. "Gwent Magistrates' Court granted the closure orders, for a period of three months, on Wednesday 29 July". PC Claire Drayton, crime and disorder reduction officer at the Pill neighbourhood policing team, said: "We had calls from the community reporting anti-social behaviour, drug use and drug dealing taking place at these two flats which had an impact on local businesses and residents."
