Chelsea has reached a verbal agreement with Italian side Como for the permanent transfer of defender Trevoh Chalobah. The total package could therefore rise to €36 million, meeting the valuation Chelsea had placed on the England defender earlier in the summer. Chalobah had attracted interest from clubs across Europe and the Premier League, but Como’s project under former Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas emerged as his preferred option. That agreement left Como and Chelsea to negotiate a transfer fee before a breakthrough was eventually reached. The expected transfer will bring an end to Chalobah’s long association with Chelsea, having progressed through the club’s academy before establishing himself in the senior team.
