You can use fresh cherry tomatoes for garden salads or afternoon snacking, plum or roma tomatoes for making paste or marinara sauce, and beefsteak tomatoes for slicing and juicing. Every summer, the garden is filled with the same staples that consistently grow well in each garden, but I like to always pick a few new varieties to try out. Throughout the years, I've learned that some tomatoes are simple to grow in almost any garden as long as proper care is provided consistently. In considering which homegrown tomatoes are the hardest versus the easiest to grow, the question is really about which varieties are pickier than others. Unfortunately, there are some that take a bit more work, monitoring, and trial and error to produce reliable results.
