London’s cable car has carried its 20 millionth passenger, just over 14 years after it opened in 2012, with the milestone being marked by a competition offering one winner free travel for the next 20 years. The competition runs until 16th August, with entries accepted by scanning a QR code at either cable car terminal or through TfL’s online entry page. It remains the UK’s only urban cable car and has become one of London’s more unusual transport attractions. In recent years, the cable car has expanded beyond being simply a way to cross the Thames. Fiona Jones, TfL’s Head of London Cable Car, said reaching 20 million passengers was “an incredible achievement” and described the attraction as “a much-loved part of London’s transport and leisure offering”.
