The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced $8 million in funding for safety and facility upgrades at 39 airports across the state. According to the press release, the money will go toward pavement and turf improvements, crack repairs and removing obstructions on runways and taxiways. The press release said the Aeronautics Capital Grant Fund has supported more than 260 safety projects at Minnesota airports since fiscal year 2022. The State Airports Fund, which is supported by aviation fuel and sales taxes and aircraft property taxes and registration fees, finances these projects.
