The Avon Social Club in Avon Road is set to host a series of events in August to celebrate its centenary, including live music, a darts competition and a garden fête. The venue also holds a special place in entertainment history as the site of Tony Hancock’s first professional performance. On Saturday, August 8, an all-day darts competition organised by Ian Burnett will start at 11am, followed by music from Dave Marks in the evening. An afternoon garden fête will begin at 2pm and will feature games, stalls, a barbecue, and entertainment.
