Nairobi, 03 August, 2026 / 11:40 pm (ACI Africa). As Kenya prepares for its 2027 General Elections, Archbishop Philip Subira Anyolo of Nairobi Catholic Archdiocese has called on Christians to embrace leadership founded on God’s wisdom, saying authentic leadership is measured not by power or success but by spiritual integrity, peace, and selfless service. "Our focus on building peaceful and faithful leadership was because of the elections and appointment of lay leaders that took place across the Archdiocese early this year," the Archbishop says, adding that "also in the light of the General Elections next year, on this Family Day, I wish to share with you some reflections on 'building faithful and peaceful leadership.'" Drawing from St. James 3:17-18, Archbishop Anyolo says leadership inspired by God is "first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, without uncertainty or insincerity." He explains that such wisdom "is not merely intellectual ability, but a moral and spiritual reality expressed in conduct, relationships, and decisions," adding that "authentic, faithful and peaceful leadership requires that leaders are firm believers; rooted in God, they acknowledge the primacy of God and His ethical commandments, and seek His help daily."
