Adagio Medical Holdings Inc. today announced the treatment of the first patient with its next-generation vCLAS Ultra system.
The device uses low-temperature ablation, capable of reaching as low as -170 degrees Celsius, to scar heart tissue that causes abnormal electrical signals.
The newest version is said to reduce ablation time by 50%-75% and make procedures up to 30 minutes shorter compared to the first-generation system.
In April, the FDA granted investigational device exemption (IDE) approval to Adagio to expand its FULCRUM-VT clinical trial to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the vCLAS Ultra system for sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia, a type of irregular heart rhythm.
Shares in Adagio rose 19% to 45 cents and a $10 million market cap (Nasdaq: ADGM).
