South Cambridgeshire District Council’s licensing review panel heard representations from the licensing officer, driver and the driver’s representative. The name of the driver has not been made public but the panel gave their reason for refusal in the meeting’s minutes. They said they believed “on the balance of probabilities” that he was “not a fit and proper person to hold a private hire driver licence”. They said he had failed to inform the council about his conviction and disqualification from driving after being convicted and again when he applied to renew his licence. The panel said they didn’t believe he “was a safe and suitable driver” as he had a “series of convictions and endorsements”.
