Nifty jumped 200 Points After 3.15 P.M., SEBI’s New Closing Auction Rule, Know Everything InsideNifty jumped over 200 points after market hours as SEBI's new Closing Auction Session boosted official closing prices of heavyweight stocks.
The fast increase was caused by SEBI's recently established Closing Auction Session (CAS) structure for F&O-eligible equities rather than by new purchasing.
Under the updated structure, exchanges hold a 20-minute Closing Auction Session after continuous trading in F&O-eligible equities stops at 3:15 pm.
In order to establish a single equilibrium closing price, buy and sell orders are gathered and matched during this time.
Before the official closing price is released, there are several stages in the process, including a transition period, order gathering, and final matching.
