According to a press release from the Carmel Police Department, authorities have released new details about the violent stabbing that happened last week inside the U.S. Post Office on Fair Street in Carmel. Authorities say the incident unfolded shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 30, after Putnam County 911 received reports of a disturbance at the post office. Authorities say he was released later that same day. McNiff was arraigned in Carmel Town Court, where authorities say temporary orders of protection were issued. He was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility and remains in custody while the case moves through the court system.
