The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) has downgraded the Evacuation Order to an Evacuation ALERT for an isolated number of properties around the Wait Creek (N11360) wildfire. The EVACUATION ORDER remains in effect for properties in the Ta Ta Creek area in the immediate vicinity of the fire. Residents are urged to refer to the Evacuation ALERT Map to determine whether their property has been changed to an ALERT from an Order. This fire grew quickly and aggressively fueled by strong winds, prompting the Evacuation Order. Emergency Support Services (ESS) support will continue for the residents in the Ta Ta Creek area who remain on Evacuation Order.
