Goodwill Manasota and United Way Suncoast recently announced results of the 2026 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) tax season, marking the program’s strongest financial return in recent history.
VITA services started in June at the Goodwill Manasota (Mecca) Community Room (5150 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota), with additional Wednesday dates planned throughout the year.
Families claimed $2,342,488 in Earned Income Tax Credits, $1,263,765 in Child Tax Credits, and $214,372 in Education Credits, while avoiding an estimated $2.37 million in professional tax preparation fees.
VITA tax preparers can prepare returns with credits including the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, Additional Child Tax Credit, Education Credits, and Retirement Saver’s Credit.
