(Courtesy photo)Robert J. Miron, a longtime cable television executive who helped shape Advance/Newhouse Communications, Discovery Communications and several major institutions across the cable and broadband business, died July 29.
Miron served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Advance/Newhouse Communications and later as the Chairman of Discovery Communications.
He helped guide Advance’s expansion into cable television at a time when the business was still emerging as a national distribution platform.
Miron served two non-consecutive terms as the Chairman of the National Cable Television Association (NCTA), a rare distinction reflecting the confidence peers placed in his leadership.
Miron was inducted into the Cable Hall of Fame and Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame.
