An Alcorn State University professor exposed over 30 of his students for using artificial intelligence to write a portion of their midterm.
Gibson discovered his students’ use of AI by hiding instructions in white ink within the test directions.
In a third video, Gibson reflected on an interview he had with a reporter and wanted to make sure he emphasized to his audience that he does not plan to use this method again to catch students using AI.
“I had just become weary of reading AI responses because you can tell when AI has written something – the sentence structure, the paragraph fluidity – it takes the personality away from the writing,” Gibson said.
“[Employing this method] was an effort to let my students know, ‘Hey, y’all, I see this, I notice it.’
